AIG CEO Edward Liddy was interrogated today before the most reverend, most illustrious and all knowing House Financial Services subcommittee. Rep. Paul Hodes (Dem. N.H.) stated "I think AIG now stands for Arrogance, Incompetence and Greed," in regards to the insurance giant honoring employee bonuses and paying them with tax payer money. Yet Representative Hodes and all of the Democratic majority that made up today's inquisition voted for the very bill that grandfathered in AIG bonuses being paid with tax money.
Still, we should calm down, take a deep breath and be patient. We cannot blame them as there was no way they could have known what was in the 1100 page stimulus bill as not a single one of them could have taken the time to read the bill before voting for it. The left has once again proven that big government is incompetent and unable to accomplish simple goals.
It is in fact, the Federal government that now has a 79% stake in AIG. They were completely capable of dismissing the bonuses as majority holder and moreover they are capable of dismissing the Board of Directors for approving such actions. The Left wants control but has no idea what to do with it. Let professionals handle business, you guys play your little games and continue thinking you are "important and useful" while you run the country into the ground.
Newsflash: We have a bunch of lawyers in Congress masquerading as business men and playing to the populist fervor. These people, both Democrat and Republican are liars and they assume that you and I are to ignorant to notice what is happening. The Federal Government, President Obama and tax cheat Tim Geithner all knew what was happening at AIG, as did Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and both houses but none spoke up or acted until the news went public and tax payers began to throw fits. This is what happens when America is confused enough to vote in an incompetent and inexperienced President. Change we can pay for!
